Cate Blanchett 'fine' after suffering injury in chainsaw accident
Cate Blanchett has revealed she suffered a small injury as a result of a chainsaw accident while isolating at her home in East Sussex.
The actor shared news of the incident with former Australia Prime Minister Julia Gillard on the latter's A Podcast of One's Own.
“I’m fine,” Blanchett, 51, said. "I had a bit of a chainsaw accident yesterday, which sounds very, very exciting, but it wasn’t. Apart from the little nick to the head, I’m fine."

Gillard, 58, jovially replied: "Be very careful with that chainsaw. You’ve got a very famous head, I don’t think people would like to see any nicks taken out of it.”
The Carol star is currently in lockdown with her husband Andrew Upton and their children, sons Dashiell, 18, Roman, 16, and Ignatius, 12, along with daughter Edith, whom the pair adopted in 2015.
They relocated to the UK from their native Australia after purchasing their East Sussex home in 2016.
Prior to the pandemic, Blanchett planned to take time off work to help her eldest son through his A-levels but disruptions to schooling have seen the scheduled exams cancelled.
“And then all of this exam stuff evaporated and I’m left with an 18-year-old who doesn’t really want to have anything to do with me,” she remarked.
“So it’s a little bit discombobulating, but it’s a high-class problem, we’re all well.”

Blanchett added that she has also been home schooling her daughter due to school closures.
