Angellica Bell has been crowned winner of Celebrity MasterChef 2017, beating Ulrika Jonsson and Dev Griffin.

Host Gregg Wallace told the presenter: “You are one of the best Celebrity MasterChef contestants I’ve ever seen”.

Bell impressed the judges with menu that featured a camembert and fig tart starter and a pan-fried halibut main.

But it was her dessert of pear bourdaloue with amaretto jelly and mascarpone cream that really stole the show.

The judges could barely contain their enthusiasm for the pudding with Wallace describing it as: “the work of a craftsman” and “one of the best dessert I’ve ever tasted”, while John Torode pronounced it: “perfect”.

The competition was close, however, as both of her fellow contestants Griffin and Jonsson served impressive menus.

Griffin’s lemon dessert went down well, bringing back childhood memories for judge Wallace, but the DJ was let down by the combination of textures in his main.

Meanwhile Ulrika Jonsson’s Scandinavian mackerel, beetroot and fennel dish was called ‘clever’ by the judges.

However the presenter, perhaps scarred by her raw lamb experience earlier in the competition, slightly overcooked the meat for her main, but undercooked the pastry on her tarte tatin.

Both contestants were gracious in defeat with Griffin commenting: “I’m happy with that, that was deserved” and Jonsson agreeing: “I feel that was the right result”.

Celebrity MasterChef returns to the BBC in 2017.
