After Stephen Hendry got booted from Celebrity MasterChef earlier this week, remaining celebrities Jim Moir (aka comedian Vic Reeves), TV presenter Angellica Bell, news reader Julia Somerville and tennis star Henri Leconte had a lot to prove.

Tonight's episode (August 18) saw the stakes go higher and it felt kind of like we were back at school taking exams, as the judges tested the poor contestants on their food recognising skills.

John Torode and Gregg Wallace brought in six different ingredients that they had to identify before putting them to work on a recipe – but it was just one celebrity at a time. Terrifying.

The wannabe chefs had to cook a lamb kebab dish and viewers couldn't understand why John failed to pronounce Kofta correctly.

Then, the contestants attended the Francis Crick Institute where they had to cook lunch for 100 scientists, and it was girls against boys to come up with an amazing main, vegetarian main and a dessert.

Despite the urgency of the whole thing, Julia was working rather slowly, which stressed people out no end.

After that rather tense battle of the sexes, it was back to the kitchen to cook for past MasterChef winners Ade Edmonson, Emma Kennedy and Phil Vickery.

Following a wobbly start in the first episode, Henri literally stole the show with his two dishes and is now everyone's absolute favourite person.

However, two had to go and in the end it was Julia and Jim who were booted this time – and viewers were pretty happy with that.

Five new celebrities - Becky Adlington, Rachel Stevens, Tyger Drew-Honey, Debbie McGee and Radio 1 DJ Dev Griffin - will be the next crop of wannabe chefs in the kitchen.

Celebrity MasterChef returns on Wednesday (August 23) on BBC One at 9pm.
