Celtic transfer news bulletin as Mathias Kvistgaarden price 'set' by Brondby while Carl Starfelt domino falls

Brondby have reportedly slapped a massive price tag on Mathias Kvistgaarden this summer amid Celtic 's long-standing interest in the frontman.

The Danish striker has been subject to firm Parkhead interest throughout the last two transfer windows with an offer worth more than £4m reportedly knocked back 12 months ago. The 22-year-old has publicly stated that he did not hold any talks with the Scottish Premiership champions - but refused to close the door on a potential move. But with Brondby heading for the Europa Conference League after missing out on the Danish title last term the club appear determined to keep the key man at the club.

RB Salzburg have reportedly shown an interest in Kvistgaarden, with Austrian outlet VICTAURI claiming that scouts have been sent to watch the forward throughout the last campaign. However, the asking price is said to have put the side off a potential deal at this stage - with €10million (£8.5million) demanded to sign the star.

It's a lofty price tag - with Norwich City already expected to demand a big payout to take Adam Idah back to Celtic Park this summer. And while new Canaries boss Johannes Hoff Thorup admitted that he wants to take a look at the Ireland international before any decisions - but sporting director Ben Knapper conceded that the Championship side would have to stick within their player trading model should an offer come in.

He said: "I certainly wouldn't be doing my job if I wasn't constantly looking at how can we improve what's out there. It's always a balance.

"Of course, there's some areas that we're looking at, but it's so important to remember Johannes hasn't had the first session yet with the players. He needs to get in there and feel and see these players. That's going to play a part in decisions that we may or may not make."

Another man who has been touted with a return is Carl Starfelt. He looks set to leave Celta Vigo - with speculation ramping up over a potential return to Celtic just 12 months after leaving Parkhead.

The centre-back brought a two-year spell in the Premiership to an end last summer when he signed a four-year deal with the La Liga outfit, but he faces an uncertain future at the club after Rafa Benitez was replaced by Claudio Giraldez. The successor to the Liverpool boss is said to not fancy the Swede as a defensive option going into the new season - and La Voz Degalicia claim a replacement may have already been found.

Jose Fontan will return for pre-season with Celta Vigo - and will reportedly be given a chance in the first-team picture after a successful loan at FC Cartagena. It is stated he could "replace" Starfelt and force him further down the pecking order - while pushing the 29-year-old closer to the exit.
