AS residents prepare to enjoy a long bank holiday weekend councils in parts of south Essex have warned of changes to bin collections over the next two weeks.

Here is how bin collections are affected by the Bank Holiday in every south Essex area.

Basildon

From Monday, collection days will run a day later than usual.

Residents can find out their specific collection days at www.basildon.gov.uk/WhereILive.

Southend

There are currently no revised collection days planned.

Rochford

To ensure minimum disruption over the bank holiday periods in 2024, bin collections within the Rochford Council area will continue as usual.

A statement on the council's website says: "Please make sure that your bins are put out on the boundary of your property by 7am, as normal."

Non-Recyclables and compostables will be collected next week.

Castle Point

Collections will be one day late on the week of May 6 due to the bank holiday.

The council has also revealed collections will run a day later than usual on the week of May 27 as well.

A council spokesman said: "Please present your waste before 7am one day later than your usual collection day."

Brentwood

To ensure minimum disruption over the May Bank Holiday period, recycling, food waste and refuse services within the Brentwood borough will continue as usual.

Thurrock

In 2024 there are no changes to wheeled bin collection days in the Thurrock area around the May or August bank holidays.
