The All-Ireland SFC Super 16 permutations will become much clearer this coming weekend and one of the most pivotal games is the Leinster SFC clash between Kildare at Louth.

The Lilywhites had a League campaign to forget after failing to win a single point in Division Two.

Not only will Kildare ply their trade in Division Three next year, there’s a real prospect of them featuring in the Tailteann Cup for the first time if they fail to reach the Leinster final.

Louth also need to reach the provincial decider to guarantee their place in the group stages of the All-Ireland series after finishing sixth in Division Two.

If they lose this weekend, a win for Down or Offaly would relegate Ger Brennan’s men to the Tailteann Cup.

However, Louth eased past Wexford in the quarter-final and their U20 footballers provided them with a timely boost with a shock defeat of Dublin in Tuesday’s Leinster semi-final.

Kildare claimed a last-gasp win over Wicklow in the last eight and Glenn Ryan’s side will need to recover their best form to book their place in the Leinster final.
