Chris Davies has sent a strong message to Birmingham City players before transfer action

Chris Davies plans to suss out his Birmingham City players in the first two weeks of pre-season. By the time Blues have completed their training camp in Austria on July 14, Davies will know who’s in and who’s out.

The new Blues boss has only met two of his new charges in person, Krystian Bielik and Dion Sanderson, and is waiting to greet the others at the training ground on July 1. All players except those who have played international fixtures are expected to report on the first day.

Davies has done his homework on each of them and plans to give everyone a fresh start. He is, however, ready to put their football ability and characters to the test next month.

“It won’t take me long,” he said. “We have that first week here at the training ground, then we’re going to Austria for a week. By the end of the Austria trip I will have a really good handle on the level of the players I’m working with and the training sessions will be designed to see how they cope and get to know them personally as well.

“I’ll have a really good idea when we return from Austria what we have got in the building, and that will give me more clarity on what we need to bring in to add to that and make sure we have a really robust squad.”

Davies has admitted that he plans to hold discussions with Blues’ international contingent in a bid to convince them to stomach a season in League One. The club hopes to keep Bielik on board and conversations with Paik Seung-ho and Koji Miyoshi are also in the pipeline.

The chances of keeping Wales international Jordan James appear slim. Italian side Atalanta are expected to make another bid for James having seen multiple offers rejected in January.

I think that is the main thing that pulls us together."First invented in Finland more than a decade ago, hobby horsing has taken off at a gallop across the globe. "It is growing every year," said Julia Mikkonen, the chair of the Finnish hobby horse association.This year's championship was "the biggest we have had so far", she added.Beyond the whimsy, great strength and skill is required to jump the obstacles while holding the hobby horse. I am both horse and human," she said. Hanninen's hobby horse is a grey called Toope, with glittery reins and pink ribbons adorning its white mane.- Welcoming community -Competitors go to great lengths with their horses -- which are also exhibited and judged -- modelling and sewing the heads and adorning them with decorations.  "Hobby horses are art," said Arlin, who makes her own.With the cheers of the crowd still ringing in her ears after an impressive show jumping round, she hailed the sport as "the best hobby ever"."You are doing so many things with your hands, brain and the whole body."Like many of her peers, Arlin found hobby horsing through play as a child. "But the older I became, it became more serious," said the rider, who trains by riding real horses, working out in the gym and doing pole dancing.Rainbow flags in the arena reflected the tolerant values underpinning the community.   "Horses are mostly seen as a girls' sport, but that is not correct.
