Yahoo News Clint and Kelly Harp's New Show Debuts This Week
Fixer Upper fans, queue up your DVRs because you're going to want to watch this.
The pilot episode for Clint and Kelly Harp's new series Wood Work airs this Wednesday, March 8 at 7:30 ET on the DIY Network, the husband-and-wife team announced during a Facebook live. The show will follow the couple and their design team made up of friends and family as they build furniture and run their small business in Waco, Texas.
After becoming Joanna Gaines's go-to furniture maker on Fixer Upper and racking up a fan-following of his own, Clint Harp and his firm, Harp Design Co., were tapped by HGTV and the DIY Networks' parent company Scripps Networks Interactive for the new show, which was originally titled Against the Grain. Now, fans can check out everything he does when he's not working for the Gaineses.
The 30-minute pilot will highlight what Clint and Kelly do and how they work together. Fans will get to see Clint and his team racing to build furniture in the design shop to fulfill customer orders for homes, events, and more. You'll also get a glimpse into Kelly's work as a designer for her line "Harp At Home," where she sources items and vintage home goods for the growing design shop and their online store. Plus, they'll both be sharing their best tips so viewers can complete their own DIY projects at home.
Clint typically uses recycled and reclaimed wood from old structures, fallen trees, and scrap piles, according to the Inquisitr. Expect to see a lot of pine, oak, mahogany, walnut, and poplar crafted in his patchwork-style furniture.
"There is the beauty of this idea, of something being left for dead and brought back to life," Clint told the Austin American-Statesman. "It had a deeper meaning. I felt that way about myself. I was living my life one way doing the sales thing, which was fine, but I didn't feel like myself. For me, I'm kind of reclaimed as well." Prior to running Harp Design Co., Clint worked in medical equipment sales, but left to pursue his carpentry passion full time.
Only the pilot episode has been filmed, and there's no word on when more episodes may be produced or aired by the network. But don't worry Harpfans-Clint's role on Fixer Upper isn't going away. "Anytime they call, I am there," Clint said about filming with the Gaines.
Here's hoping for plenty of Clint's fun projects on both his own show and season five of Fixer Upper!
