Towns and cities across the UK change over the years but it can be upsetting when our favourite restaurants and shops leave the high street.

Bolton has seen a variety of restaurants come and go with some locals wishing they could still visit their favourites for a bite to eat.

To find out which ones they miss the most, we asked Bolton News readers which restaurants they wish were still open in Bolton.

Following the vote, the results show that Tiggis is the most popular restaurant that locals wish they could still visit.

The Italian restaurant was remembered by almost 100 of our readers who wish they could pop in for a meal.

One said: “Tiggi’s best Italian (Italian flag emoji) their garlic mushrooms were to die for”.

Another described Tiggis as “the best resturaunt there was !!”

A third commented: “Tiggis. Brilliant food and atmosphere.”

A restaurant that follows very closely behind Tiggis is Smithills Coaching House which received praise for its food and some remembered the memories they have from visiting.

One said: “Smithills Coaching House ..had my first meals out with my now hubby there and there Cheese & Onion pie was amazing”, adding “also had my 21st meal there”.
