Co-op staff threatened with knives and hammer in terrifying armed robbery

Armed raiders held up a Co-op store before escaping with cigarettes and cash. Three men brandishing knives and a hammer theatened staff at the store in St Kenelm's Road in Romsley, near Bromsgrove, at around 7.20am today, Friday, May 3.

They fled in a white Ford Fiesta which was seen driving in the direction of Halesowen.

Det Sgt Ian Tomlinson, of North Worcestershire CID, said: "This robbery took place at a time when people may have been visiting the store or driving past on their way to work or on the school run.

"We are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen something or has dashcam footage they can share with us."

West Mercia Police said: "Officers are appealing for witnesses following an armed robbery this morning at the Co-op store in Romsley, near Bromsgrove. Three males entered the store at St. Kenelm’s Road, at 7.20am armed with knives and a hammer and threatened staff before stealing a quantity of cash and cigarettes from the store.

"The robbers then made their escape in a white Ford Fiesta which was last seen driving in the direction of Halesowen. Anyone who has any information regarding this incident should call DS Ian Tomlinson at Kidderminster CID on 01562 826105 quoting log 67i of May 3.
