Colmore Row bus ‘sex attack’ CCTV appeal after ‘rush hour attack’

A CCTV appeal has been launched to find a man wanted in connection with a sex attack on a bus in Birmingham. The incident took place in Colmore Row, in the heart of the city, on Friday, May 10.

A woman suffered a sexual assault on the Number 7 National Express West Midlands bus in the busy city street next to Birmingham Cathedral, at the end of the rush hour at 9am. The victim was in her 20s.

The bus runs from Colmore Row out through Newtown and Witton to Erdington, where it finishes in Witton Lodge Road. Now West Midlands Police has issued images of a man officers would like to speak to in connection with the attack.

The man is white, with a dark, thick black beard, and wearing a black cap white t-shirt with coloured stripes, black trousers and trainers. He’s also pictured carrying a phone in his right hand and a black rucksack over his left shoulder.

In issuing the appeal, a spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: “Do you know who this is? We would like to speak with him following a sexual assault on a Number 7 bus in Colmore Row in Birmingham city centre just after 9am on 10 May.
