Colombian Military Intercepts Narco-Traffickers, Seizes Over Two Tons of Cocaine

The Armed Forces of Colombia said it seized “more than two tons of cocaine hydrochloride” during a joint operation in the Caribbean Sea with Panamanian authorities and US Southern Command.

Video released on June 20 shows Colombian Navy personnel arresting four people and taking custody of large packages. The military said three of the suspects were identified as Nicaraguan and one as Costa Rican.

In a press release on June 19, the Armed Forces of Colombia said the suspects attempted evasive maneuvers, “fleeing and throwing packages into the sea in their wake.”

The military said the drugs were worth an estimated $79 million on the illegal market. Credit: Fuerzas Militares de Colombia via Storyful
