Comedian Rosie Jones driven off social media after spate of 'hurtful comments'

Rosie Jones has quit X (formerly Twitter) after being hounded with ‘hurtful comments’ by online trolls.

The 33-year-old comedian, who lives with a cerebral palsy condition that affects speech and muscle coordination, says she's now had enough after being slammed in another attack. She has dubbed social media a 'centre of hate'.

In a message that she later deleted from X, Rosie revealed: "I've not felt a lot of joy from this social platform in a long time, so to come on and see I'm trending, yet again, is exhausting. I could say comedy is subjective but the truth is the comments are hurtful.

"I used to love Twitter but I don't care for this centre of hate. Goodbye."

The 'Out of Order' host has always been candid about the relentless online abuse she faces and how it has toughened her up, , reports YorkshireLive. Speaking to The Guardian, Rosie admitted: "I'd be lying if I said it didn't upset me, but luckily I am surrounded by such a strong network of brilliant friends, family, colleagues who support me.

"Do I need a thick skin? Yes, I bloody do. But I'm able to switch it off, I don't look at social media when I'm on TV."

A familiar face on 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, Rosie also spoke about her role as an inspiration for others living with disabilities. She added: "I focus on the positives - on the people coming up to me saying 'I've never seen disability portrayed like you do,' or if they are disabled, coming up to me and saying, 'Thank you for making us feel seen and worthy and valid."

Rosie confessed that navigating through the television industry can be challenging, and admitted that if her condition was "slightly more severe", it could represent even more obstacles. According to Wales Online, she said: "If I had a different disability, or my cerebral palsy was slightly more severe, that would create more problems."
