Construction worker nets almost £20,000 jackpot from £1 Blackjack bet at Newcastle casino
A construction worker has turned a £1 bet into an almost £20,000 jackpot on a visit to a Newcastle casino.
The anonymous Geordie placed a £1 bet in the Blackjack side bet game, Ace King Progressive at Grosvenor Casino on St James Boulevard. Shortly after going head-to-head with the dealer, the winner was left in disbelief after discovering he'd nailed the £19,400 jackpot.
To win from a £1 chip, both the player and dealer must draw a Blackjack match by holding the Ace and King of the same suit. The winner is planning to down tools so he can whisk his wife and daughter away on a luxury holiday.

Speaking about his jackpot prize, the anonymous winner said: "To be honest, the feeling of winning still hasn’t sunk in, I'm still on cloud nine. The win has come at the right time as I was hoping to take the family away on holiday and with the money, I can do just that!"
Wayne Sheekey, general manager at Grosvenor Casino Newcastle, said: "A massive congratulations to our lucky winner. He’s been a regular at the casino for some time so it’s amazing to see a jackpot come his way. We look forward to seeing pictures of his holiday when he next visits the casino."
