Controlled Water Release at Sutton Dam Following Deadly Flooding

Authorities conducted controlled water releases at dams across West Virginia on Friday, June 24, following the deaths of 23 people in the state as heavy flooding took hold on Thursday. The Summersville Lake dam had a peak intake of 100,000 cubic feet per second, while at Sutton Lake, intake from the Elk and Holley rivers peaked 47,000 cubic feet per second on Thursday night.
