Coronation Street star Sydney Martin has continued to be supported by her new castmates as it was revealed she's playing DS Lisa Swain's daughter, Betsy. Fans were left shouting 'knew it' over the big reveal after first seeing the teen as Sabrina's mate.

It was back in May that viewers of the ITV soap first learnt Swain had a daughter. The news came out as, despite Swain being the reason Carla Connor's friend Roy Cropper was behind bars, charged with the suspected murder of missing teen Lauren, Carla was seen being sympathetic to the stressed-out detective and mum.

In return for being a sympathetic ear, despite Carla lying about her nephew Bobby Crawford's false statement to the police about the night Lauren disappeared in a bid to help Roy, Swain encouraged the newly freed street stalwart to make amends with Carla before the Underworld boss offered Swain’s daughter some work experience.

However, before her first appearance in the factory, Betsy Swain was up to no good as she was seen blackmailing Joel Deering after his actions towards her mate Sabrina. As viewers know, the solicitor is not to be trusted after it was revealed he was behind the disappearance - and assumed death - of Lauren.

Amid her interactions with Joel, DS Swain met her daughter in the precinct park, where they had a confrontation before Swain insisted Betsy get in the car and head home.

Following the reaction to her identity reveal, Sydney Martin, who plays Betsy, shared a picture of herself and Vicky Myers, who plays Swain, in character other Instagram Story and said: "I just wanted to say a massive thank you to everything for all the support. I truly feel so welcomed into the community and appreciate every message, video and reel. They have put the biggest smile on my face."

It comes after the 22-year-old said she was "feeling the luckiest" after Vicky shared the same picture to X, formerly known as Twitter, and said: "WE ARE FAMILY. The Swains."

Vicky also shared the same photo and said on Instagram on Sunday (June 30): 'WE ARE FAMILY'. The Swains. This is a real 'pinch me' moment! I’m incredibly proud and so grateful to be part of this iconic and much-loved show and now, there are two Swains on the street!
