Coronation Street confirms Fiz Dobbs's exit storyline

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street has confirmed details of Fiz Dobbs's temporary exit storyline, as Jennie McAlpine takes time away from the soap.

The actress confirmed back in January that she is expecting her third child, with Jennie's maternity leave meaning that the writers have temporarily written her out of the soap.

Corrie has now revealed more on her departure, with new scenes seeing Stephen call Fiz into his office and offer her a job in Norwich, revealing that it is double her current salary. When she tells Tyrone about the offer, he suggests that she should take the job.

Later on in the week, Fiz packs her things in anticipation of the move. While in the factory, Izzy and Kirk support Fiz, as Evelyn and the girls wave to her while she departs for the station with Tyrone.

Speaking back in February about Jennie's exit, show boss Iain MacLeod told Loose Women that Fiz and Tyrone would not be splitting up again, explaining: "Geographically she'll have to [be apart from Tyrone]! This is one of the weird things about working on a soap.

"When an actor says they're pregnant, obviously the first reaction is: 'Congratulations, that's amazing', but the second one is: 'Right, how are we going to account for their absence?'

"What we didn't want to do is split them [Fiz and Tyrone] up because they've been on again and off again and they've just got married."

He further teased: "Fiz will be leaving to cover Jennie's maternity leave, but it will be acrimonious. They'll part as friends and they'll try to do the long-distance thing. Actually, we've pre-recorded some little bits with Jennie that we're going to play in as video calls, so while she's away we can still see her talking to Tyrone. We're trying to use all the tricks we can to cover it."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
