It is weeks before Christmas and former Coronation Street star Sean Ward has spoken about his experience of sleeping on the floor at his friends' home.

Life has totally changed for the actor who once earned as much as £120,000 and now on the flip side only takes home £12,000. Once upon a time, he played Callum Logan on the cobbles as he starred on the ITV soap from 2014 to 2015 at the peak of his fame.

However, the star has now admitted that he "sabotaged" his own career by sharing his controversial views on social media. Previously, Ward said he was homeless after sharing anti-vax views in the COVID pandemic — saying that "no one would hire me".

Speaking about it now, the actor wrote on Instagram this week: "I know deeply how lonely this can be and isolating, after trying to take my own life in 2018 after discovering the evil on this planet and no one caring. I decided using whatever s****y little platform I'd built through my acting career to at least try sieve through the propaganda together and thereby sabotaging my own reasonably successful career - to go from earning 120K a year to 12K a year, sleeping on a mates mattress is actually unfathomable to most people. I’m still building a life to feel proud of. It wasn’t much of a choice though as far as I’m concerned, but something of a moral necessity."

Why is Sean Ward speaking out?

Ward has caused a stir with his posts on social media. It dates back to the pandemic when he voiced his opinion against the vaccine. Previously he said that his acting work "dried up" as a result.

Now the actor has been speaking about Palestine and he addressed his comments in his new social media post. He wrote: "Like now with speaking about Palestine. It was about choosing not to be a cowardly, money-grubbing, little c*** like most people / celebrities out here that never actually lost anything substantial. And, of course, for the resourceful, there's always more than one way to earn a living, and I’ve built myself back up many times over the last 3 years when all hope was lost, so it doesn't feel like I've thrown away very much in fact."

Ward tried to explain to his followers why he chose to speak out on his social media platforms. The actor said he voiced his opinions because he wants to create a better world for his niece and nephew, saying: "I would do everything I could to give them a happy life."

He added: "Someone asked me why I threw away a decent career in acting for the sake of speaking out. Well, it's because this country & the whole world is being submitted by grim authoritarian digital communist f***ery. And if people like me and you don’t kick against it, then my beautiful nieces & nephews have a very s*** life to look forward to. When I made the decision to play my part as their uncle, it was under the moral condition that I would do everything I could to give them a happy life." (sic)

His success in the acting world saw him nominated for The British Soap Awards for Best Newcomer and Villain of the Year in 2015. Making a stark comparison between his life then and now, the TV personality shared a photograph of himself at a celebrity-packed awards event in a suit.

Having not lost hope, Ward shared his plans to return to the acting world in the future. However, he did not reveal when this would happen - stating cryptically "when the time is right". He added: "I always will return to acting. When the time is right. But my inner pain losing everything that I built was hard and I have admittedly spiralled out of control many times. Especially after losing my Grandad."

Getting himself on the straight and narrow, the star added of his life now: "So it’s still an ongoing process not to numb myself with alcohol and drugs. I haven’t fallen into that horrible path now for months. So i am proud of myself and anyone else feeling the same. You’re never alone. We all have shown we care. And that keeps me going. Thank you. Seany x."
