Coronation Street spoilers: Imran and Toyah have car crash, Abi and Kevin grilled by police

Coronation Street is changing timeslots next week, and it's a high drama week focussing on the ongoing custody battle involving Imran and Abi’s baby.

It’s been only a couple of months since ITV revamped its evening line-up of programmes. But, for the week of 30 May to 3 June 2022, it’s all change again thanks to Britain’s Got Talent airing Monday to Friday at 8.00pm.

So those looking for their fill of Weatherfield drama should make a note: Corrie is also being stripped across weeknights and at the different time at 7.30pm.

As is traditional in BGT semi-finals week, ITV is ensuring that Corrie’s storylines are similarly high stakes.

Will Abi flee?

An increasingly desperate Abi is determined to prove that Imran bribed Ben to lie in court. But feeling that the odds are stacked against her, she ultimately decides that the only way she can be with her son Alfie is by doing a runner with him.

She already has the fake passports, the destination of Costa Rica in mind and the help of Kevin at hand. But will she be able to successfully make her escape overseas?

Imran wants to confess his sins

Up until now, lawyer Imran has generally been pretty ruthless when it comes to getting what he wants. But, in this pivotal week, he’s set to experience a crisis of conscience.

Kelly will be seen holding a mirror up to Imran’s behaviour, the result being that Imran realises he no longer likes the man he’s become. Aware that he’s made Abi’s life a misery and unable to deal with the guilt, he makes plans to come clean to both the court and partner Toyah.

But with Kevin lending Abi his support, and Toyah already starting to pick apart Imran’s lies, will Imran’s big confession come too late?

Flashforward car crash horror

The flashforward is fast becoming the default way of soaps building up tension, with Emmerdale having only recently been seen spooling ahead to hint at dangers to come.

And Corrie will now employ this very trick when the week opens with the sight and sound of Imran leaving a portentous voicemail message for Toyah in which he confesses everything.

But what we also then glimpse is the scene of an horrific car crash that has left Imran and Toyah lying unconscious in the wreckage. So, might one of them not make it through to the end of the week? And will Abi and Kevin have played any part in the smash-up?

What happens next?

By Thursday, fans will see Abi and Kevin left horrified when they learn that Imran and Toyah have been involved in a car crash. And as police officers investigate why the vehicle's brakes failed, they turn their questions to Kev, who worked on the car.

Friday’s drama will then find Kelly telling police that Imran was on his way to confess everything at the time of the collision, while both Abi and Kevin are taken in for questioning.

As events reach a climax, the police grow convinced that the crash wasn’t an accident before a flashback reveals the car journey in question…
