There's a new and unexpected arrival on the cobbles and the concern for Roy Cropper continues in Coronation Street next week. It starts as Billy Mayhew helps Paul Foreman dress for his radio interview with Amy Barlow and assures him he’ll smash it.

But when a cab arrives to take Paul and his mum Bernie to the interview, it’s obvious the car isn’t big enough for Paul’s wheelchair. Paul is left furious as the driver is rude and dismissive. They still make it but, as Amy conducts her radio interview with Paul, he talks passionately about his MND and society’s lack of regard for disability in general, but gets carried away and swears live on air.

Paul, Billy and his sister Gemma are blown away by the MND crowdfunder and are sure it will make the council sit up and take notice about the possible centre closure. Meanwhile, a man approaches Bernie outside the café, telling her he heard Paul on the radio and didn’t realise his son was dying.

Bernie covers her shock and makes out Paul’s already dead and that the interview was a recording. But disbelieving her, Denny follows her up to the flat where Gemma and Paul are shocked to see their dad. When Denny remarks that Paul looks great for someone that’s supposedly dead, Bernie freezes in horror.

Later, Bernie lets off steam to Dev about Denny, secretly worried that Denny might blab about her past. Billy, meanwhile, reminds Paul that Denny used to knock him about when he was a kid and he’s not to be trusted but when Paul invites Denny to watch a film, Billy reluctantly leaves them to it.

Denny soon nips out for ice cream leaving Paul alone in the flat. He bumps into Gemma and begs her to let him meet his grandchildren. But while alone in the flat, Paul has a coughing fit and struggles to breathe. He calls for an ambulance but when the operator answers, he drops the phone.

Denny then returns and is shocked to find Paul barely conscious. Meanwhile, Dev Alahan finds Bernie rifling through a shoebox of old letters and photos. When Dev wonders what she’s looking for, Bernie’s uneasy...

Meanwhile, Roy calls the café hoping to speak to his niece Nina Lucas. But when Shona Platt passes the phone to Carla Connor, she hangs up, making out it was a dodgy line and hurries out. In his prison cell, Roy has another flashback of Lauren approaching the café counter with Max Tuner, but can’t work out what’s significant about their conversation. But when a prison officer bangs on the door, a frustrated Roy loses his chain of thought.

In the factory, Bobby tells Carla that he reckons Roy must have kept quiet about the false statement or the police would have come knocking by now. Meanwhile, over in the visiting room, Nina explains to the prison officer that she’s waiting for Roy Cropper and, as the officer lets himself into Roy’s cell, he finds him collapsed on the floor.

Later, Mary Taylor visits a desolate Roy in hospital and, when Roy reveals that he keeps trying to remember the details of a conversation he overheard between Max and Lauren as he feels sure it’s of significance, Mary urges him not to give up as it’ll come to him eventually.

Meanwhile, when Nina reveals that the police are going to film a reconstruction in the café of Lauren’s last known movements, Amy Barlow offers to mention it on her new radio show to raise awareness. Later, Roy calls Dee-Dee Bailey from prison and tells her about Lauren’s necklace and how, if they can trace where it’s from, they might be able to trace her mystery boyfriend.

Elsewhere in the cab office, an upbeat Steve McDonald tells Tim Metcalfe that since he joined the new dating site Abi Webster recommended, he’s had three matches. In the café, Steve shows Abi and her husband Kevin a picture of Maggie, a potential date, and, as Kevin makes sexist remarks, Abi storms out in a huff.

Meanwhile, a delighted Steve tells Tim that Maggie has agreed to meet him for lunch in the Bistro. Later, a now nervous Steve meets up with his internet date, Carole, in the Rovers, but he’s thrown to discover she’s brought three friends with her.

Aurora then invites Tim to join them and refuses to take no for an answer. When Sally Metcalfe calls at the pub and spots her husband Tim with a drunken woman, giggling like a schoolboy, how will she react?

Later, a downbeat Steve tells Amy he’s had enough of dating apps, but he quickly changes his tune when he sees a message from Demi. As Steve prepares for his date he tells Amy that he’s convinced Demi’s the one. Steve then meets up with Demi in the Rovers and they hit it off immediately.

Meanwhile, Alya Nazir calls at the solicitors for a client file to find Adam Barlow struggling with the admin. When Adam suggests they pull out of the joint work they’re doing with Fabian’s, Dee-Dee accuses him of being petty, and orders him to suck it up and get on with the filing.

Rich and Alya later arrive for their meeting with Adam but he's left taken aback to learn that Alya’s going to work in Dublin. Adam hands them a summary of the case, determined to impress Alya. Later, as Adam and Alya work together on the joint case, they share a smile but then quickly look away. Finally, Adam admits his feelings to Alya and the pair kiss, just as Rich calls at the office to find them in a clinch!
