Coronation Street fans have doubled down on their theory about who is responsible for Lauren Bolton's disappearance as a return looms. It's now been more than two months since the teen was last seen in Weatherfield after weeks of secretive behaviour linked to a 'mystery boyfriend'.

Lauren disappeared after being sacked from her job at Roy's Rolls by Roy Cropper. The cafe owner later visited her with her wages and some extra cash to tide her over. But soon after, the teen was visited at home by a mystery person who viewers of the ITV soap never got to see and she hasn't been seen since.

It was new love interest and Carla Connor's nephew Bobby found her flat unlocked and eerily empty. While Bobby did report Lauren as missing to the police, it wasn't until Sean Tully was viewing the flat and revealed he'd spotted blood on the curtains the case really began into her disappearance and when the blood was confirmed as being Lauren's, the missing persons case became a murder probe.

It's Roy who has so far found himself behind bars charged with Lauren's murder and as his friends protest his innocence, the questions over what has happened to Lauren and whether she is alive or not still remain.

At the end of last week's string of Corrie episodes, Roy believed he may have remembered something of significance as he painstakingly remembered an exchange between Lauren and Max Turner in which she was talking about her boyfriend and clutching at a sparkling gold necklace.

Roy shared what he knew with solicitor Dee-Dee Bailey who was able to pass the new information onto the police. However, during Monday night's (May 7) episode of the long-running soap, Dee-Dee was seen delivering bad news to Roy as she told him the necklace wasn't among Lauren's belongings and without it, they couldn't track where it had been brought from and who could have purchased it.

Corrie fans, meanwhile, are more adamant than ever that Joel Deering is responsible after he lied about a receipt worth hundreds of pounds from a jewellers being for a pair of cufflinks before he seemingly admitted he'd spent the money on a charm bracelet for his then-secret daughter.

@dawnkjenner said: "It’s Joel! Back at Christmas Dee De found a receipt for jewellery and thought it would be for her." @blubliss00 commented: "Oh yes. I remember now. Didn’t he say it was something for his daughter when Dee Dee asked about it? Wow. I can totally see it being Joel."

@johnneladderley replied: "Exactly. I've been saying it's Joel. Plus, the flowers he bought Dee Dee for Valentine's Day are the same flowers Lauren had that she got from her boyfriend. Also, Joel's wife was being shady about his cheating. She might have caught Joel on that website Lauren was on and that's why him and his wife broke up."

But it's also the return of Bethany Platt's groomer Nathan Curtis that also has fans convinced as they also believe he and Joel could be related. @tracy.c70 shared: "Nathan coming back into it this week will show that he has something to do with Joel, the jewellery and flowers will be remembered by Dee Dee and she will realise what Joel has been doing." @andrewolivermorley added: "He's Nathan’s relative for sure."
