Kevin, meanwhile, assumes the baby is Tez’s – and Abi continues to go along with the lie. On the day of newborn Alfie’s operation, Abi breaks down in Kev’s arms and he offers to let her stay at No 13 until she’s won custody of the baby.
It’s news that gives Abi a feeling of hope for the future but it can surely only be a matter of time before the truth is revealed.
Jacob attacks Simon
It’s time for Jacob to take part in Weatherfield’s own version of Meet the Parents as Amy arranges lunch for him, her, as well as Steve and Tracy at the Bistro.
Naturally, the reaction isn’t a good one, with Tracy immediately threatening to walk out. But Steve makes the point that Amy is now 18 and, whether they like it or not, she can see who she wants.
But more flak is headed Jacob's way when Leanne spots them all together and points out that Jacob very nearly ended up destroying her family. And Jacob doesn't exactly do himself any favours when, following the meal, he gets into a fight with Simon and punches him!
By the end of Friday, Steve has had a rethink and, fearing for Amy’s future, gives her an ultimatum: it’s either Jacob or her family. But who will Amy choose?
Daisy scuppers Nicky’s chances
When Daisy finds out that Nicky is applying for a teaching assistant post, the Rovers barmaid strikes a wicked deal with Max.
For her part, Nicky is just hoping that she manages to keep her history as a sex worker under wraps. But events conspire against her and the trial session with the class doesn’t go well, with Daniel later confiding in a relieved Daisy that Nicky didn’t get the job.
Sarah is given a warning about Lydia
Tired of being seen as the bad guy, Adam will be seen knocking back drinks in the Rovers, flirting with a girl and telling her that his wife died in a car crash. Daniel then intervenes, but a drunk Adam then staggers off into town.
The next day, Daniel convinces Adam to go and see Sarah, but when she clocks his hungover state, he’s sent packing. An irate Adam then spots Lydia and tells her he’ll prove what a liar she really is.
Someone who may not need much convincing is Carla, who’s telling Sarah she ought to reconsider cutting Adam out of her life as she’s not sure Lydia can be trusted. Might this be the moment Sarah sees the light?
