Coronation Street's Ruthie Henshall calls for longer stay as Estelle
Coronation Street spoilers follow.
Coronation Street guest star Ruthie Henshall has called for the opportunity to play Estelle for just a little bit longer.
The actress and West End star entered the cobbled streets earlier this week, connecting with old friend Glenda Shuttleworth (Jodie Prenger) in a short stint.
Henshall, who has also appeared on I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! and Doctors, spoke with Inside Soap about her time on the soap, revealing that she would love to continue playing the character.

"After the experience I've just had, yes I would [play Estelle again]," she said. "I loved doing something different every day – it's great for a girl whose attention span is not great.
"In theatre I'll rehearse a show for a month then I'm saying the same words eight shows a week. That is a kind of discipline – but in a soap it's full-on if you're in a developing storyline. The turnover is so fast."
Whilst a return isn't on the table yet, Henshall did offer some suggestions for potential storylines in the future: "I want her marriage to break down, for her to get a love interest and cause a bit of trouble.
"And I'd love some scenes with Evelyn, she would clean Estelle. I know Maureen Lipman – I co-produced her last show and she is just phenomenal. [Or] The Rovers Return needs Estelle and Glenda to entertain punters with the odd duet."

Upon her announcement in the soap last month, Henshall said: "This is one of the most enjoyable guest roles of my career. Everyone is so welcoming and I can't believe after years of the street being in my life that I finally get to tread the cobbles.
"Getting to act with Jodie was a joy and every member of the cast was welcoming and kind. I am so excited and delighted to be on the street where so many brilliant actors strut, and have strutted, their stuff."
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
