Hypnotherapist Lisa Machenberg has worked with thousands of kids. She joins The Doctors to share her experience with assisting kids overcoming all sorts of obstacles from sleeping through the night, bedwetting, separation anxiety, focus, concentration, sports performance, fears, phobias and weight management. She sees kids as young as 3 and as old 18.

Psychotherapist and addiction specialist Dr. Mike Dow also weighs in on the dangers of using hypnosis on kids. He recommends sending your child to a licensed healthcare professional, not simply a hypnotherapist. Dr. Dow would suggest that if you are going to use hypnosis with a child, you are should go to a mental health professional, trained and licensed by the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis. His fear is that a child's mind is very susceptible to suggestion and hypnosis can bring up memories or trauma that can lead to false memory syndrome, or worse.

ER physician Dr. Travis Stork wonders, "Is there a place for hypnotherapy where your child's fine in every single regard but it's something really like bedwetting, where maybe you don't feel like there's a need to go see...they don't have depression, they don't have any anxiety, they are just bedwetting?" Dr. Mike Dow agrees that perhaps there is a place for hypnotherapy in those situations.

Is this something you would try on your young ones?
