Crude Oil Barges Catches Fire Off Port Aransas, Texas

One sailor was killed and a second reported missing when a barge containing crude oil caught fire around three miles off the coast of Port Aransas, Texas, on Friday, October 20.

KRIS TV reported Coast Guard crews were deployed to locate the sailors from the tug boat towing the barge. The Port of Corpus Christi was temporarily closed while the USCG worked to contain the fire and oil from the barge. Credit: U.S. Coast Guard District 8 via Storyful
