A man has been jailed for four months after a hamster was plied with cannabis and a soft drink spiked with LSD.

Shocking footage showed the moment that Nchinumya Ntembe, 22, added LSD to Tizer and fed the Class B drug to the rodent, known as Mr Chow, at a house in Heysham, Lancashire, last year.

In the video Ntembe can be heard saying “this could be the end for Mr Chow”.

Ntembe, 22, is now behind bars after admitting five animal cruelty offences at Lancaster Magistrates Court, including failing to sufficiently care for two dogs .

The animals owned by Ntembe have now been rehomed and he has been banned from keeping animals for eight years.

Four dogs were found at the home, including a mastiff called Troy – who was severely emaciated.

Two mastiff dogs, Faith and Zeus, also had fractured skulls believed to have been caused by blunt trauma.

RSPCA Inspector Sarah Hayland discovered the abuse when she attended the property in May 2016.

She said: ‘I have never been involved in anything like this before.

‘Animal cruelty is a serious offence and in my opinion I welcome prison, we are pleased with the result.

‘The house was filthy, dog faeces everywhere, the dogs had a bare plastic bed, the other dog was found tied to a radiator and the hamster was in a cupboard.’
