SATS often bring stress and nerves for the students taking them but a local school has the purr-fect way to help their learners. Outwoods Primary School in Atherstone has the perfect stress-reliever for its pupils taking their Sats (Standard Assessment Tests) this week.

They can cuddle and stroke Cilla the school cat both before and after their exams, the BBC has reported. She has been part of the school community for seven years.

Her efforts to help the youngsters has seen her account on X, formerly known as Twitter, catch the eye of thousands of followers. Cilla, which is short for Priscilla Outwoods, has 'beds all over the school' but lives in the key stage 2 (KS2) building.

She not only provides furry comfort for the exam-taking Year Six pupils, she also provides a key role in helping children transition from lower school to Year 3, Head teacher Sally Taylor told the BBC.

Speaking about her support during SATs week so far, the headteacher said: "Monday and Tuesday she's been sitting in the middle of the hall and they have all given her a stroke so she just seems to sense when people need her and she's there, she's amazing."

Regular posts are put onto her X account, @OutwoodsCat, and it has led to her receiving letters from youngsters all over the world.
