Cyclone Nivar Leaves Streets Flooded in Indian Coastal City

Streets were flooded in Pondicherry on November 26, after Cyclone Nivar brought heavy rain to India’s Tamil Nadu state.

Video posted by Blesson Daniel show cars driving through floodwater along a main street in the city as people are also seen wading through the water.

The India Meteorological Department said Nivar brought 237 mm of rain to Pondicherry between 8:30 am on November 25 and 2:30 am the following day.

Nivar weakened to a cyclonic storm after it made landfall and would continue to weaken over Thursday into a depression, the IMD said. Credit: Blesson Daniel via Storyful
