ITV is said to be facing a crisis with its ice rink for the new series of Dancing On Ice.

According to The Sun, the facility, in Bovingdon, Hertfordshire, is struggling to stay frozen, with channel bosses spending ‘thousands’ to keep the ice from thawing during rehearsals.

“They already have three chillers powered on generators to keep the ice cold, but the studio seems to be too warm to keep everything frozen,” source told the paper.

“They have been installing insulation so the temperature doesn’t rise any more. It’s very hard to get it right – a few degrees out and puddles can begin to appear.”

ITV has not responded to requests to comment on the matter.

The new series is set to begin just after Christmas on January 6, with this year’s contestants already in training.

On the bill this year are TOWIE’s Gemma Collins, Love Island star Wes Nelson, Grease actress Didi Conn and former Strictly Come Dancing pro James Jordan, Coronation Street’s Jane Danson, X Factor’s Saara Alton, former Apprentice and Loose Women’s Saira Khan, Richard Blackwood and ex-Westlife singer Brian McFadden.

Holly Willoughby will be back on screens to present following her stint on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here, flanked by her This Morning co-host Philip Schofield.
