Dani Dyer reveals why Keira Knightley was once her babysitter
It turns out that being Danny Dyer's daughter means that even your babysitters are Hollywood A-listers.
Dani Dyer has revealed that she once had a very famous babysitter in the shape of Oscar-nominated actor Keira Knightley.
The 27-year-old TV personality and former Love Island winner told the story of her A-list childcare on the first episode of the Daily Mail's new podcast series Straight to the Comments.
"It wasn’t for that long," said Dyer. "The partner [Knightley] was with at the time was in one of my dad’s films. Obviously, I was quite young, and she just looked after me."
Knightley dated fellow actor Rupert Friend in the second half of the noughties and he starred alongside Danny Dyer in the 2007 thriller Outlaw.
Dyer added: "I think she’d done Bend It Like Beckham, because I remember sort of looking at her and thinking 'I know who you are'. Then when we got home from the film set, my mum was like 'that’s Keira Knightley!' and I was like 'oh my God'."
Knightley's career was certainly on the rise at this time, with Pirates of the Caribbean shooting her to mainstream fame while she also received awards attention for the 2005 adaptation of Pride and Prejudice.
Thankfully, Dyer described Knightley as a "lovely" babysitter, even if she was too young to really comprehend how famous her occasional childminder actually was.
Dyer rose to fame when she won the 2018 series of Love Island with partner Jack Fincham, securing what is still the highest ever percentage of audience votes in the final.
She has since had three children — a son with ex Sammy Kimmence and twin girls with her current partner, West Ham footballer Jarrod Bowen.
