Daniel Craig to undergo surgery after getting injured filming Bond 25

Daniel Craig will undergo surgery after getting injured while filming Bond 25.

The official @007 Twitter account announced the news on Wednesday, saying the actor was to receive "minor ankle surgery" due to an injury "sustained during filming in Jamaica".

"Production will continue whilst Craig is rehabilitating for two weeks post-surgery," the statement continues.

Bond 25, the full title of which has yet to be revealed, remains on track to be released in April 2020 as planned.

The cast of the upcoming spy film was revealed in April. Craig will reprise his role as Bond for what is expected to be the last time, though his co-star Naomie Harris recently hinted otherwise, saying she believes Craig himself doesn't know yet.

Harris is returning as Miss Moneypenny while Ralph Fiennes will star once again as Spectre. Also reprising her role is Léa Seydoux, aka Madeleine Swann. Ben Wishaw will appear once more as Q.

Rami Malek, meanwhile, will make his Bond debut as the new villain.

Cary Joji Fukunaga is directing the film, having replaced Danny Boyle in 2018.
