Danny Dyer has teased a huge turnaround for EastEnders this Christmas, arguing that the show has had a "rough time" in recent months.

The Mick Carter actor also teased one of the big storylines, which involves his character trying to save the Queen Vic from property tycoons.

"We have had a bit of a rough time," he recalled (via Daily Star). "We have been pony for a few months.

"The other soaps have overtook us. Corrie and Emmerdale, they have had a good little run. We are a sleeping giant and it's going to go off."

As for his new storyline, he continued: "I have got a really good storyline coming up. What I was known for in some of the films I was in. The dark side.

"I have got to do some sneaky double naughty things to save the Vic."

Mick is joining forces with some of the others to take part in a shady job for ex-prisoner Aidan Maguire (Patrick Bergin) at the moment.

He is desperate that wife Linda (Kellie Bright) doesn't find out about his dodgy work, though it looks like that will be more difficult than thought.

EastEnders continues on Monday, December 18 at 8pm on BBC One.
