Danny John-Jules has broken his silence on his exit from Strictly Come Dancing, after fans accused him of ‘arrogance’ in reportedly snubbing the show’s traditional final dance, which usually features all the series’ contestants.

The Red Dwarf star headed straight to Dominica – where he has family – after being voted off the dance show, and has only just returned to the UK.

He also missed his exit interview on Strictly spin-off It Takes Two, which was also noted by the show’s fans.

It followed unsubstantiated press reports that he had ‘bullied’ his professional dance partner Amy Dowden, and hit the roof after being axed from the contest by judges.

Tweeting to fans, he said: “After ‘Leaving On A Jet Plane’ and having just landed back in UK, I’m overwhelmed by all the love and support I’ve been catching up on. It’s been very comforting and very much appreciated.”

John-Jules replied:

He also addressed another critical fan:

He had previously mocked the press reports of him falling out with Dowden, while the pro-dancer said that he should be ‘proud’ of his performances on the show.

“I’ve never felt bullied or threatened by Danny. I really want to get this man to Blackpool and then to the final,” she said on It Takes Two, prior to the pair’s exit.
