A DATED suburban shop could be split into two modern retail units.

Mrs Nazra Bano Shakil has applied for planning permission for the sub-division of the premises at 10 to 12 Cheltenham Road in Wensley Fold, Blackburn.

She hopes to rent the units to small businesses such as nail bars or convenience stores.

In a supporting statement submitted with the planning application for the change including external alterations to the premises to Blackburn with Darwen Council, Mrs Shakil says: "The current building / single unit is unoccupied, and the internal layout is ‘dated’ and in need of modernisation.

"I can confirm that the ‘proposed’ use for both individual units will operate as is currently: commercial / rental.

"New tenants will operate the units around normal working hours ie Monday to Friday (08.00 until 18.00) "If the tenant were to require differing times a separate application / permission would be requested.

"The units will be marketed towards local residents, typically small business models ie. nail salon, or small convenience store.

"Access to both units for the public on foot, will be obtained by using the individual front door and or access ramp.

"Space for delivery or parking for a total of two small cars will be available at the front.

"Tenants will be able to park at the rear of the units - one allocated off-road parking space per tenant."
