Dave and Shirley from Gogglebox bid farewell for now as fans say 'it won't be the same'

Gogglebox stars Dave and Shirley Griffiths have left fans feeling a touch of melancholy after announcing the end of the current series.

The beloved duo from Caerphilly, who became part of the Channel 4 programme in 2015, confirmed that the episode which aired on Friday, May 24, will be the season's finale.

In a video message from their home, shared with their Instagram followers, they revealed they won't be back on our screens until September, as reported by Wales Online.

Shirley expressed: "Hi everyone don't forget to tune in tonight at 9pm, have a good weekend and enjoy the bank holiday. Lots of love, Shirl."

Following Shirley's message, she blew a kiss to the camera while Dave added: "Yes, sadly the last one tonight for the series so make sure you watch, all have a great summer. Oh and by the way, don't forget the voting for the NTAs (National Television Awards) has opened so if you can afford us a vote, Gogglebox, we'd appreciate it. Have a great summer, tara all, see you next time around.", reports the Liverpool Echo.

Accompanying the video, they wrote: "Have a great summer all see in September." Fans quickly filled the comments section with messages of disappointment, with one saying: "Noooooo is this series over already? Have a lovely summer both. See you on the tv in September."

Another lamented the loss of their Friday night staple, commenting: "Oh no, Friday nights won't be the same without Googlebox," while another echoed the sentiment, replying: "I agree missing them already! ".
