David Beckham took up beekeeping as a hobby during lockdown and reaffirmed his love for the new pursuit while harvesting honey this week.

The former footballer shared a video of himself harvesting on Saturday to mark World Honey Bee Day and declared in the caption that the hobby has become a big part of his life.

"What a buzzzz, who would’ve thought honey harvesting would become my favourite thing to do?" the star wrote to his 75 million followers.

Beckham documented his early forays into beekeeping on social media during the pandemic lockdown in 2020, building a series of hives at his home in the Cotswolds and getting the family involved.

It seems his wife Victoria, however, is not so keen on some elements of her husband's new pastime, writing in a comment below his video that she wasn't pleased with his attire.

"Please don’t wear that boiler suit home," she wrote alongside flushed face and crying laughing emojis.

Victoria has previously been supportive of his hobby, sharing a video earlier this year in which she remarked that David was doing a photoshoot with his bees.

She said: "He's so cute. Literally walking around loving and caring for his little bee friends. Taking a selfie with his bees. Squatting for his bees. He's going to get stung in a minute."

Beckham has not made any public announcement about monetising his hobby, but it was reported in 2020 that the 47-year-old might launch his own brand of organic honey.

Entrepreneurship runs in the family, it seems, with Beckham's son, Brooklyn Peltz Beckham, revealing this month that he hopes to turn his love for cooking into a business.

He said: "I would love to have my own pub. I would love to have my own sauces, knives, pots and pans. Not like a chef — I’m always going to be learning about cooking.

"I want to have so many TV shows, and hopefully one day open up a pub in LA, because LA needs a pub."
