Yahoo News Deadpool 3 set for record-breaking $200m opening
Deadpool & Wolverine looks set to be a major box-office success when it releases next month.
Film tracking site The Quorum has forecasted that the third outing for Ryan Reynolds' fourth wall-breaking anti-hero will have an opening above $200 million.
That would be the highest opening for an R-rated movie ever, with the record currently held by the first Deadpool, which nabbed a $132.4 million opening back in 2016.

For recent Marvel comparisons, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness opened to $187 million, while Spider-Man: No Way Home opened to $260 million.
Deadpool & Wolverine, which brings back Hugh Jackman's clawed mutant favourite, has already broken the record for best first-day ticket sales in 2024, and is also the best first-day pre-seller for the Deadpool franchise as a whole.
While fans wait for the film's release, director Shawn Levy has been busy teasing fans on what to expect and has said you don't need to be an expert on the MCU to watch and enjoy this film.

"I was a good student in school," he said. "I’ll do my homework as an adult. But I am definitely not looking to do homework when I go to the movies.
"I very much made this film with certainly a healthy respect and gratitude towards the rabid fan base that has peak fluency in the mythology and lore of these characters and this world. But I didn’t want to presume that.
"This movie is built for entertainment, with no obligation to come prepared with prior research. This movie is filled with moments, but comedic and character-based, that we didn’t expect and were the result of a freedom that came from being friends."
Deadpool and Deadpool 2 are streaming on Disney+. Deadpool & Wolverine opens in cinemas on July 26.
