Demonstrators Burn Effigy at Protest Against Presidential Bid by Son of Former Dictator

Demonstrators gathered outside the Commission on Human Rights in Quezon City, Philippines, on October 6, to protest the presidential bid of the son of former dictator Ferdinand Marcos, local media reported.

The protesters burned effigies of Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr and President Rodrigo Duterte, a local journalist reported.

Marcos announced his intention to run for the presidency on Tuesday, the Manila Times reported. On Wednesday, he said in a Facebook post that he had filed for a Certificate of Candidacy.
