Dillian Whyte details ‘the only way’ Anthony Joshua can overcome Oleksandr Usyk in Saudi Arabia

Dillian Whyte believes Anthony Joshua will reclaim his world heavyweight titles against Oleksandr Usyk in Saudi Arabia on Saturday.

Joshua is set for what is being billed as a career-defining rematch against the Ukrainian, who danced to a comfortable win via unanimous decision little over a year ago now.

The talk leading up to Saturday’s clash has been centred around Joshua’s tactics. Where in 2021, the 32-year-old attempted to outbox his opponent, there have been calls for him to return to the aggressive approach to have taken him to such heights earlier in his career.

That strategy helped Joshua overcome Whyte during their enthralling grudge match back in 2015, subsequently taking him to the top of the chain in the heavyweight division.

Whyte, who is eager to return to the ring following April’s loss to Tyson Fury at Wembley, is backing his old rival to win if Joshua can rediscover his “aggression”.

"It’s a massive fight, the biggest fight of his career," Whyte told Sky Sports.

"I do expect him to bounce back, he’s a British fighter like me and I only support our own, so I do hope he gets the job done.

"It’s good for me if he wins as well.

"I can understand that [rediscovering his aggressive side], because I’m of the same mindset as well. In my last fight [against Tyson Fury] I wasn’t as aggressive as I normally am, I’ve said the same thing to myself, I need to rediscover that aggression.

"I think it’s the right mindset he needs going into the fight, it’s the only way he wins the fight."
