Liverpool are close to welcoming back key members of their first-team squad as they continue to compete for Premier League and Europa League glory.

The Reds remain in the hunt for a further two major trophies this season and could see their chances in both competition boosted by the return of influential individuals in key positions.

Alisson Becker, Diogo Jota, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Stefan Bajcetic have all returned to training this week and are edging closer to being available for selection once again, offering Jurgen Klopp the best chance of going out on a high as Liverpool manager.

Up next for the Reds is a European clash with Atalanta, which at least two of the aforementioned players could be back for, before facing Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon.

Below is a round-up of the expected return dates of those currently out injured as Liverpool await their services.

Diogo Jota

Liverpool have been without Diogo Jota since he was stretchered off in Liverpool's 4-1 win over Brentford on February 17.

The Portugal international has missed nearly two months of action for the Reds, but is now on the verge of a first-team comeback. Klopp has hinted the former Wolves star could be in the matchday squad for the upcoming Atalanta clash at Anfield, having recently returned to training.

Providing positive news on Jota on Wednesday afternoon, the Reds' boss said: “So, obviously we didn’t rush it with the boys. You can but we didn’t, that means they did a lot of training by themselves, especially Diogo and Trent, [they] worked as a group for two or three weeks really properly training. So, [they] looked very good yesterday, to be honest.”

Possible return date: Atalanta (H) - April 11

Trent Alexander-Arnold

Trent Alexander-Arnold has also missed nearly two months of action for Liverpool since suffering a recurrence of a knee injury against Burnley on February 10.

Like Jota, Alexander-Arnold is in contention for Thursday's Europa League tie, which could represent the right-back being named among the substitutes.

Discussing the 25-year-old, along with Jota and Alisson, Klopp remarked of the trio: “They are now back in training and now we have to see how we involve them and how we use them. That we need them is clear. But we need them in the best possible shape, and we want to give them kind of rhythm.

“It’s always a challenge trying to reintegrate the guys. With the quality they have it should be easier, and we will use them in the next days and weeks, but what it means for [Thursday] I didn’t make a decision yet.”

Expected return date: Atalanta (H) - April 11

Alisson Becker

Alisson Becker has been sidelined since February after suffering a hamstring injury in the days before the Reds' clash at Brentford.

The Brazilian shot-stopper is on the verge of retaining his place between the sticks after joining Jota, Bajcetic and Alexander-Arnold in team training this week.

Klopp said on Wednesday: "Alisson is on the way back as well. So, we have to see that. It’s always a challenge trying to reintegrate the guys. With the quality they have it should be easier, and we will use them in the next days and weeks, but what it means for [Thursday] I didn’t make a decision yet.”

Possible return date: Atalanta (H), April 11

Thiago Alcantara

Thiago Alcantara has played just five minutes of football for Liverpool this season due to injury.

He suffered a hamstring injury after his brief cameo against Arsenal on February 4. It remains to be seen when Thiago will make a return to the matchday squad.

Potential return date: Unknown

Stefan Bajcetic

Stefan Bajcetic is nearing a return to the Liverpool squad after a tough season on the sidelines through injury.

Bajcetic has made just two appearances this season for the Reds, with the last coming back in September, though will soon be back playing for the under-21s ahead of a phased return to the first-team.

Commenting on the Spaniard, Klopp explained his approach as follows: "Stefan is different a little bit because he was out for much longer, but he is now training with us for longer as well. But I think after the long spell he had without playing football it makes sense that we might give him a game at U21s and then let’s see how he deals with that."

Potential return date: Everton (A) - April 24

Joel Matip

Joel Matip has been recovering from an ACL injury he sustained in early December, which required the defender to undergo surgery.

Matip has been stepping up his recovery in recent weeks, though is not expected to represent the Reds again this campaign.

"He [Matip] is running," Klopp said on April 3. "Yes, he hates that but since he got injured, this is the best moment as it was very painful at the beginning, very painful for him, but he got through that. Now he is pain-free but it all takes time. The season isn't long enough [for him to return]."

Potential return date: Unknown

Ben Doak

Ben Doak has been recovering from a knee injury he sustained during an appearance for Liverpool's Under-21s back in December.

The 18-year-old has yet to make a return to training, and no timeframe has been given for when the Reds expect Doak to be available once again. It remains to be seen if Doak will feature again for Liverpool again this season.
