DIY SOS star Nick Knowles is launching a music career

He has carved a career for himself in the TV world, hosting heartwarming BBC show ‘DIY SOS‘, but now Nick Knowles is turning his talents to the music world.

The TV presenter is the latest star to launch a music career, revealing that he has been recording his debut album, ‘Every Kind Of People’, with Universal Music – and that it’ll be released in time for Christmas.

Speaking to The Sun, Nick shared: “Music’s always been a major part of my life since I was 14 and picked up a guitar.

“I’m the kind of person who gets home from work and picks up the guitar and strums a lot.

“It’s always been part of my life and a friend of mine said to me one day: ‘Why don’t you do an album?’

“So he connected me up to Universal, we did a couple of test tracks and they came back and said: ‘Would you like to make an album’. It’s been really exciting.”

Nick’s debut album will feature covers of his favourite songs, which the star says he has been playing at home “for 10, 15, 20 years”.

Inspired by the likes of Bob Dylan and Cat Stevens, Nick compared his style to British crooner George Ezra.

He added: “I think it really stands its ground as an album and there are some really beautiful songs. I’m not trying to be Justin Bieber.

“But by the same token, there aren’t very many singers in Britain that sing with a deep voice. I think there’s a market for that.

“Probably the only artist that’s got a deep voice that’s appeared is George Ezra in the last few years.”

Nick has previously showed off his singing skills for charity, taking part in Comic Relief Does Fame Academy in 2005 and singing ‘Addicted To Love’ for Children In Need back in 2008.

The TV star’s decision to officially kickstart his music career comes shortly after comic Jason Manford announced plans to do the same, with TV presenter Bradley Walsh no doubt inspiring his fellow stars when he released the best-selling album by a debut artist last year.
