Doctors remove live cockroach from woman’s head after it crawled up her nose

A woman who woke up with a strange sensation in her head was horrified to discover that it was a live COCKROACH squirming around.

The 42-year-old woman, identified only as Selvi, was so alarmed by the feeling that she made her son-in-law take her to hospital in Chennai, India, to have it checked out.

She believed an insect had crawled up her nose and, sure enough, doctors at the Stanley Medical College Hospital discovered that she was right.

Selvi told the New Indian Express: “I could not explain the feeling, but I was sure it was some insect.

“There was a tingling, crawling sensation. Whenever it moved, it gave me a burning sensation in my eyes.”

Doctors were stunned at the discovery of the cockroach inside Selvi’s skull

Dr M N Shankar said: “This is the first such case I have seen in my three decades of practice.

“It was sitting in the skull base, between the two eyes, close to the brain.”

Thankfully the cockroach was removed by a clamp before it could cause more serious issues.

Dr Shankar added: “If left inside, it would have died before long and the patient would have developed infection which would have spread to the brain.”
