Dog left heartbroken after her puppies were stolen finds solace - by adopting orphaned goats

A pet dog left “completely heartbroken” after her puppies were stolen has adopted new babies with a slight difference – two orphaned GOATS.

Julie the pet dog was left distraught after her four puppies were stolen, even refusing to eat.

But a few days later when the family goat passed away, leaving two kids in need of constant milk, warmth and attention, the caring canine stepped up and adopted them both, feeding them her own milk and treating them like puppies.

Farmer’s wife Itishree Mahanta, 30, from Asana, in Odisha, India, said: “We have raised Julie as a family member with a lot of love and affection.

“When some wicked villagers stole away her babies, Julie was completely heartbroken. She would sit in a corner of the courtyard and won’t even eat properly. Then another bad news struck us, our goat died after delivering two calves.”

But something unusual happened, she said, with the calves and Julie forming an unexpected bond.

“When I saw Julie nursing the calves I couldn’t believe my eyes,” Itishree added.
