It’s only a matter of time before six degrees of Domhnall Gleeson (his first name is pronounced like “tonal”) catches on.

The charming Dubliner, 34, has starred in the Harry Potter and Star Wars films, as well as opposite Alicia Vikander in Ex Machina and Leonardo DiCaprio in The Revenant.

Right now you can hear his voice in the animated film Peter Rabbit. But what does he make of the world?

Person you’d most like to go on a night out with?

My dad [the actor Brendan Gleeson]. I haven’t seen him for three months while he’s been filming a Stephen King adaptation, Mr Mercedes, in South Carolina, so I’d take him out for a Guinness.

Best advice someone has given you?

Richard Curtis once said that when it comes to art, the person who likes a thing most is right. If you really connect with something, your reading is probably closer to what the author wanted to get across than that of the person who hated it.

What’s your Uber rating?

4.68. That’s respectable, isn’t it?

Best thing someone on the street has said?

When I was 19 I used to get stopped and told I looked like Cate Blanchett.

What’s your phone background?

A picture of my late grandma and grandad walking down a street when they were younger, looking dashing.

Which politician do you fancy?

None, although I fancy hitting a couple.

Outfit you’d like to be buried in?

The Burberry tuxedo I wore to the Met Gala in 2015.

Your tip for leaving a party early?

Look panicked and yell “I have to leave”, without offering an excuse. Leave the reason to their imagination.

Tell us a joke...

It’s a visual gag: “How does Mr Whippy go to the toilet?” Then you crouch down and wiggle your hips like ... well, you get it. When someone does that, I just die laughing.
