Donald Trump bills taxpayers to spend NINTH weekend in a row at a Trump-branded property

Donald Trump has been accused of profiting from the taxpayer after spending his ninth weekend in a row at a property belonging to the Trump Organisation.

The divisive U.S. President has once again spent the weekend at a Trump National Golf Club in Potomac Falls, Virginia, with his stay funded by the Treasury – courtesy of American taxpayers.

Expenses include the cost of The President’s Secret Service detail, which goes to Trump’s own company.

Earlier this month it emerged that the Trump administration has spent tens of thousands of dollars renting golf carts at other Trump properties, including the Mar-A-Lago golf course in Florida.

Trump, alongside Senator Rand Paul and Mick Mulvaney – his Office of Management and Budget director – were all at the Virginia property this weekend, according to the press pool.

The President had promised that his trip the previous weekend would involve “meetings”, but he was pictured in golf clothing and watching the sport on television.

As Trump has failed to divest from the companies that own or brand the Virginia golf course and Mar-A-Lago, he is personally profiting from tax dollars.

His sons Eric and Donald Jr. are in operational charge of the company, while Trump himself retains his ownership role.

Trump’s visits to the golf course have left him open to charges of hypocrisy after he publicly attacked Barack Obama for playing golf while he was President.

The former Apprentice host also promised the American people that he would not be indulging his golfing habit if he was elected.

He told voters in Virginia: ‘I’m going to be working for you.

‘I won’t have time to play golf.’
