Double stabbing as violence erupts on Middleton estate

A double stabbing during what police called a 'disturbance involving a number of people' on a street left two men injured, it has been revealed.

Both men were stabbed, said police, but thankfully their injuries are not described as being serious.

Later, police swooped to make five arrests. A 17-year-old boy and four men aged between 24 and 27 were held on suspicion of assault and remained in custody for questioning today (Saturday).

Violence flared on Middleton's Langley estate on Friday afternoon.

Police patrols in the area have now been stepped up as a result. No ages for the men who were injured have been revealed by Greater Manchester Police. A force spokesperson said that after treatment 'the extent of their injuries is not life-threatening or life-changing'.

No further details have been revealed and police said investigations were continuing.

In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "At around 3pm yesterday (Friday 28 June 2024) our officers were called to reports of a disturbance involving a number of people on Windermere Road in Middleton.

"Following enquiries, it was established two men were stabbed and thankfully, following treatment, the extent of their injuries is not life-threatening or life-changing.

"Subsequently, a 17-year-old boy and four men aged between 24 and 27 have been arrested on suspicion of assault and remain in custody for questioning.

"Patrols by local officers are in place for the community as we continue to investigate."

No further details have been revealed.
