Dozens Arrested in Dispersal of USC Protest, LAPD Says

At least 93 people were arrested during pro-Palestinian protests on the University of Southern California (USC) campus in Los Angeles, on Wednesday, April 24, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

Footage recorded by Tomoki Chien shows the protest in Alumni Park.

Officers moved into the park at around 4 pm local time on Wednesday, Cpt Kelly Muniz told reporters, assisting the university by carrying out trespassing arrests.

Muniz said one person was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon.

The National Students for Justice in Palestine reported that rubber bullets and tear gas were used in dispersing protesters. The LAPD denied the use of tear gas when speaking to a local reporter, saying officers were not equipped with chemical agents.

USC said before midnight that the protest had ended and the campus remained closed. Credit: Tomoki Chien via Storyful
