The family of Michael Mosley, the TV doctor who mysteriously disappeared on the Greek island of Symi, have received a heartfelt message from the son of another Brit who vanished in Greece in 2019. The search for Dr Mosley, last seen on Wednesday, is now in its fifth day.

Dr Mosley's four children have joined their mother on the island, who has been tirelessly searching with her British friends. Sniffer dogs, divers and police officers have been deployed to aid in the search for the missing presenter, according to the Mirror.

Gary, whose father John Tossell, 78, disappeared on the Greek island of Zakynthos in 2019, has urged Dr Mosley's family not to lose hope. Speaking to Sky News, Gary drew parallels between his father's case and Dr Mosley's disappearance.

"When I read the story, it's like a cut and paste of my father," he said. "It's the same story but a different person," reports the Manchester Evening News.

"I wish nothing but love to the Mosley family as I know exactly what they're going through and it must be awful for them out there at the minute. I want to tell them not to give up."

Despite nearly five years passing since Mr Tossell's disappearance, he remains missing. At the time, police conducted a five-day search, and a separate search was initiated by the Western Beacons Mountain Rescue team.

The second search for Mosley was only made possible after his daughter, Katy, successfully raised £7,000 through a fundraising campaign. Greek investigators are still on the hunt for Mosley, with their focus now shifted to the towns of Pedi and Gialos.

Symi's mayor, Papakalodoukas Lefterios, confirmed this shift in focus, adding that water searches have been discontinued and authorities are now prioritising a 1.25-mile stretch of coast near the towns. Speaking to The Mirror, Lefterios previously said: "They have not yet found anything - it is a mystery, this disappearance."

"The police of Symi, the Coast Guard and forces from Athens, including police and criminal investigators, are working non-stop and will be working non-stop till they find any clue."

"I very much doubt there is a criminal aspect in this case. At least as far the local community is concerned. I very much doubt that any of the inhabitants of the island has acted in that way."

"I do believe however, the elder man walking on his own without a phone in an unknown island and 35C of heat could lead to many conclusions. He could have had unknown health issues triggered by the heat and he could've wandered through unknown paths and had an accident. Had he followed the right path I believe that everything would have been okay."

The mayor's statement was released just hours after the last known sighting of Mosley. CCTV footage, taken 30 minutes after he left to meet his wife, showed him dressed in a dark shirt and cap, with an umbrella slung over his shoulder.
