A lion cub is being cared for by a French animal protection agency after it was found inside a Lamborghini in central Paris.

The baby animal, which is said to be less than two months old, was discovered inside the rented luxury vehicle on Paris’s Champs-Elysees boulevard.

Animal foundation 30 Million Friends tweeted pictures of the cub and revealed that the driver had been arrested.

They wrote: ‘Tonight the foundation #30millionsdamis took over a cub, seized by the police forces in Paris on the Champs-Elysées on board a luxury sports car.

‘The individual who was driving the car was placed in police custody.’

The agency said the cub was the third it had recovered in a month and the sixth in less than a year.

They tweeted that the animals were sold for profit and have called on tougher measures against the trafficking of wild animals in France.

The cub, named Putin but known as Dadou, is said to be suffering from some minor health problems.

30 Million Friends said that it had filed a legal complaint against the driver of the rented Lamborghini.
