Drivers can get £600 taken off their car insurance by saying 'yes' to three questions

Drivers can get an eye-watering 60 per cent off their car insurance premium thanks to three questions. If motorists say 'yes' to three questions, then they could unlock eye-watering savings amid the ongoing Cost of Living crisis, experts have said.

Liz Hunter, Director at Money Expert, said: “With over 50% of UK adults revealing their car insurance has increased by up to £100 in the previous year, black box insurance can be an effective way to cut pounds off your premiums.”

Liz asked drivers to ask themselves three questions: 'Do I consider myself a safe and confident driver?', 'Am I comfortable with my data being collected?' and 'Do I rarely drive at night?'. If the answer to these three questions is 'yes', then drivers should consider a black box.

"While black box insurance aims to reward safe driving rather than penalise minor lapses, consistent risky driving could have consequences on both your premium and coverage," she said in her advice to UK motorists across the country.

The average car insurance quote is now over £900 in the UK - meaning drivers can get £600 off their premiums. Ms Hunter said: “Regular harsh braking and acceleration – especially if this involves exceeding the speed limit – will bring your driver score down, meaning your premiums could go up significantly when it comes to renewal.

“Worst-case scenario? If your driving is considered dangerous, your insurer could cancel your policy altogether. This could also make it difficult to gain coverage from another provider.” The warning comes amid the rising cost of car insurance nationwide.

As the financial crisis continues, motorists are being squeezed with hiked tax rates and rising petrol costs, affecting both petrol and diesel, as well as skyrocketing premiums year-on-year as insurers and insurance firms cash in on the struggles many are facing.
